Sep 13, 2010

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) and the Facilities Management Division (FMD) of the University of Saskatchewan are pleased to announce that Cam Ewart will be joining the Senior Management Team as the Associate Director, Operations and Maintenance for VIDO-InterVac.

Cam will continue his current role as the Project Manager of the InterVac construction project, while gradually assuming responsibilities as Associate Director in late 2010 when commissioning of the completed facility commences.

Cam has been involved in the construction industry for twenty-seven years, including eleven years with the Facility Management Division of the University of Saskatchewan. He has worked on numerous campus projects including the Spinks and Kinesiology additions as well as improvements to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and VIDO-InterVac facilities.

"As Project Manager with the InterVac project, Cam has worked closely with both FMD and VIDO-InterVac during the planning, design and construction of InterVac," says Colin Tennent, Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management Division of the U of S. "InterVac is Saskatchewan's most exacting and rigorously scrutinized construction project to date, and the responsibility for operation and maintenance of this technically demanding facility is an excellent fit with Cam's expertise. "

"Cam's comprehensive knowledge of the facility and its operational systems will serve VIDO-InterVac and the U of S exceptionally well as InterVac goes into operation in 2011," concurs Andy Potter, Director and CEO of VIDO-InterVac. "As the largest vaccine research investment to date in Canada, InterVac will provide much needed global capacity for studying Containment Level 3 diseases. InterVac will need to meet strict operational and regulatory requirements and we are confident that Cam's leadership will help us to meet these requirements."
