Arianna M. Hurtado-Monzόn
Vice-President - VIDO Post Doctoral Association
Dr. Arianna M. Hurtado-Monzόn joined VIDO in 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow working on a project part of the CoVaRR-Net research consortium. The project goal is to advance our understanding of the host species susceptibility to different SARS-CoV-2 variants. Her work also encompasses the development of innovative cell culture systems to advance studies in viral fitness, species-specific host responses, and pathogenesis.
Dr. Hurtado-Monzón commenced her academic journey at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in biology in 2012. Her pursuit of academic excellence led her to the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados, also in Mexico City, where she achieved a Master's degree in 2014 and, subsequently, a Ph.D. in 2020, both in Infectomics and Molecular Pathogenesis. Her doctoral research at CINVESTAV delved into the host factors contributing to dengue virus infection, an area of study with substantial implications for disease prevention.
Before joining VIDO, Dr. Hurtado-Monzón served as a part-time faculty member for three years, sharing her knowledge and passion for microbiology and molecular pathogenesis with students, thereby contributing to the education of future scientists and health professionals.
