Mario Fragoso-Saavedra

Dr. Mario Fragoso-Saavedra is a Postdoctoral Fellow in viral vaccine development working with Dr. Qiang Liu at VIDO; he is also the Secretary of the VIDO Postdoctoral Association. Mario holds a PhD in Infectomics and Molecular Pathogenesis from the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies in Mexico. His research interests include vaccine development against emerging and reemerging viruses, involving antigen discovery, production and purification, and immune response evaluation. Since September 2023, Mario has been working on a project to obtain subunit and inactive virus vaccines against different genogroups of the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea Virus (PEDV). The project aims to evaluate the transfer of protective immunity from immunized sows to piglets against virus challenge. Mario is open to pursuing a career in Industry or Academia upon completing his current postdoctoral project.
