Former VIDO-InterVac Director Dr. Lorne Babiuk honored with Gairdner Wightman Award

It was announced today that Dr. Lorne Babiuk, the former director of VIDO-InterVac and current vice president research at the University of Alberta received the prestigous Gairdner Wightman Award for his work developing vaccines and uncovering how infectious diseases spread from animals to humans. The award was based largely on the work that Lorne had done while associated with VIDO-InterVac. The Canada Gairdner Wightman Award is given to a Canadian who has shown outstanding leadership in medicine and medial science.
