VIDO director receives Saskatchewan Order of Merit
Oct 6, 2003
Dr. Lorne A. Babiuk, director of the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Organization, has received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, announced Sept. 30, 2003 by Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock.
The province’s highest honour, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit was established in 1985 to recognize citizens espousing excellence in their achievements and contributions to the social, cultural and economic well-being of the province.
Dr. Babiuk, a Canada Research Chair in Vaccinology and Biotechnology, says he appreciates this recognition from his home province. He is acknowledged internationally for his role in the development and achievements of the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Organization, and for developing an international profile for VIDO as a leader in the use of biotechnology in vaccine development.
A formal investiture will take place later this year in Saskatoon.
