Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization

Dr. Zhou completed her Doctoral degree in molecular biology of Influenza virus in Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany.  She joined VIDO as a Principal Scientist in 2003, and has been leading an Influenza research project since then. She is the program manager of the viral vaccine development group. Her research expertise includes molecular biology of influenza virus, virus induced signal transduction, viral pathogenesis and vaccine development.

Research Interests:

  • Studying the influenza virus-host interaction focusing on virus induced innate immune responses
  • Novel vaccine development for pandemic influenza viruses
  • Highly pathogenic avian influenza pathogenesis and host adaptation

Current Projects:

  • HPAI in dairy cattle
  • Swine Influenza
  • Virus-Host Interactions - Influenza
